It's really taken a scrap of willpower on my part to pace the binge sessions. the fact that this has been compared to 'the antisocial game' means that my expectations were probably a little too loftier… but christina lauren have written some of my favourite contemporary romance novels, so i felt my expectations were justified. yet, some of their usual swoon-worthy touch seemed to be missing in this book.the nigh noticeable departure was this story hardly focused on the relationship between the 2 main characters, meaning at that place definitely was not enough interaction between them to make a good contemporary romance book. i would say a good 70% of this focused on the two characters individually and their jobs. i understand this was an role romance, and that they were competing for the same position, just wow. i get enough of work in my ain life. the last thing i want to do is read 300 pages about someone elses task. goodness me. lol.
however, i will praise this volume until the end of my days for honestly tackling the upshot of double standards and the inequality of women in the workplace. this not only highlighted just how difficult it tin can exist for a woman in a field primarily dominated past men, just also demanded the need for information technology to alter. the fact this relevant problem was included in the book is the sole reason im rounding up my rating to iv stars.

Dating You lot/Hating You was so much fun to read. If you lot are a fan of books that brand you lot laugh out loud and the enemies to lovers troupe, this is a must read!
What I actually loved, is that it didn't outset out as an enemies to lovers story. Carter and Evie were set past their mutual friends (who were a hoot!) and really hit information technology off. What I really loved, is that it didn't start out as an enemies to lovers story. Carter and Evie were prepare by their mutual friends (who were a hoot!) and actually striking information technology off. Information technology seemed like there would exist a few dates and maybe even a human relationship in their future. Then the merger happened. Both of them are married to their job and when their jobs were on the line, things changed. Hence the enemies to lovers story line.

I loved both Evie and Carter so much. I think it was great to see this side of the corporate globe. Evie and Carter had so much chemical science and the story had simply plenty steam.
Dating You/Hating You lot had the perfect mix of sexual tension, humor, banter, and steam. It was highly entreating and a lot of fun to read!

It'due south a romance novel and then I wouldn't read it expecting something deep simply that said I thought that all the back and along betwixt Carter and Evie was really well washed and their relationship developed in a way that made it experience actually natural instead of the usual love at first site crap. Also I love Evie and how she bought 3 doughnuts to consume in the morning like literally me besides human being. I besides thought the portrayal of work place sexism was pretty well done and Carter's eventual realization of what was happening and attempts at acknowledging it and trying to help was pretty cool. Whatsoever thing to do with -isms is hard to execute in a way that doesn't seem annoying and preachy but I call up the book did a pretty skilful job here.

I also loved how the authors made Evie such a strong woman, and how relevant her workplace issues are and how well they nailed office politics. Carter was such a charismatic and sweet hero. There was no mode Evie (or me) could assist merely fall for the guy. He's got amuse in spades.

I was so impressed with this story -- not only was it entertaining and enjoyable, it also sent a strong bulletin. A truly fantastic read!
The writing was absolutely outstanding. Every few pages, I'd literally make these little notes to myself commenting on how amazing and strong the writing was. The words flowed, the characterizations and descriptions were vivid, and it all rounded out by swell editing. The pacing was on point, and the story was structured in such a style where I felt similar I could see everything playing in my listen like a movie. Information technology was snappy, witty, intelligent, and addictive!
Carter and Evie were both very strong, career-driven graphic symbol and I loved their chemistry. I could feel it and my heart pitter-pattered through most of their scenes together. Their depict towards each other was palatable and I really loved their romance. Plus, I felt that the story gave a really fresh, modern portrayal of adulthood.

So... I kind of went into this book expecting the whole thing to be a calorie-free-hearted, sexy enemies-to-lovers romp -- near more of a fun, fluffy read. And aye, many parts of it were that. But there was a really cleverly-written undertone that really Made this volume in my optics -- and that was tackling the outcome of sexism in the workplace. I don't think at that place's a woman alive who won't chronicle on some level to what Evie went through in this book.
In that location is an unspoken pecking order in agenting, defined primarily by who brings in the most publicity and money — and this yr, that is likely to be me.

The writing was easily v STARS. However, I did find both the ending and the 'reveal' to be predictable so while cypher really came as a surprise to me, I notwithstanding have to give major kudos to the authors for making this volume addictive even though I knew what was going to happen. In a perfect world, I would have wanted the catastrophe to have a bit more of a triumphant 'oooomph' and to surprise me a little, but even however, it delivered a satisfying and solid catastrophe!
This was a complete standalone told in alternate POVs in first person perspective. It had both a fun, flirty, light-hearted, and sexy side to it, too as a much more serious and raw undertone. I actually enjoyed it!

I think this volume is more fitted for a RomCom picture vs. book. I would probably finish watching it too. Merely to dedicate hours of my life into reading information technology...no can do! 😜

I wanted to weep when I was on the last folio. Oh, the bittersweet feeling of finishing a book. Yous're so happy to read the happily ever after, but incredibly sad because there's zippo left to read of it.
Dating Y'all/ Hating You is a lot different than the duo's previous books, and I actually dear this so much more. This is definitely a more mature Christina Lauren, merely the humor, effortless banter, neat characters, and sizzling sexual tension are still there. I could feel the emotions seeping through the volume—acrimony, joy, lust, longing. Plus, Carter made me swoon!
I've always been interested in what goes on behind the scenes, so it was nice to get a glimpse of what goes on in a talent bureau. And I loved reading about the injustices and sexism women notwithstanding face in the industry regardless of their skills and talent. Evie was a strength to exist reckoned with, I want to be like her i solar day.
Christina Lauren fans and gimmicky romance readers volition definitely enjoy this entertaining, sexy, and express mirth out loud book.

The characters were all right, both of them. They didn't discover any creative ways of annoying me out of my mind and for that, I am grateful. Somehow, the story had something missing. It needed i element (that I tin can't put my finger on right now and then I can't tell) to make it be more heady.

Christina Lauren is 1 of my favorite authors of all fourth dimension, and so it kills me to say I didn't really enjoy this book. I see a lot of people already comparing this volume to The Hating Game but the only thing this book has in common with The Antisocial Game is that it's an office romance that follows a male person and female lead who are competing for the aforementioned position. This book follows Evie and Carter and they are both talent agents in Hollywood, trying to notice the next big thing in Hollywood. This storyline should be right up my alley because I dearest reading books that take place in Hollywood and involve the picture scene, but this book ended up being kind of boring....
I didn't really care for either Evie or Carter in this book, and I especially didn't care whether or not they ended up together. I didn't see the chemistry betwixt them, which is shocking because Christina Lauren has written some of my favorite fictional couples ever, but this ane just didn't exercise it for me. Also, this story is and so much more focused on the work and the business concern an their jobs than on the bodily romance itself - which made it incredibly boring for me at times. The style Evie and Carter would pick on each other was immature and childish, in an obnoxious manner that got on my nerves. And this story is so repetitive, with their love/hate relationship for each other. It got frustrating later on so many times.
The one thing I really liked nigh this book is how information technology talks about women vs. men in the office and the sexism that happens all the time. It really dives deep into this topic, and at times I idea it got a piddling too political for a new adult romance, but I appreciated information technology nonetheless.
The catastrophe was very anticipated, I saw it coming from a mile abroad, and information technology was cheesy. I'thousand just completely shocked that I didn't love this. I barely even liked it. I would recommend Christina Lauren's Wild Seasons series over this, or The Hating Game past Sally Thorne if you're looking for a good office romance. Unfortunately, this one just didn't do it for me.

Balancing a secret personal relationship was challenging and it rang true.
But mostly what's on display is the disparity in the treatment of women in the workplace. It takes him a chip but Carter finally gets it. Seeing information technology played out from his point of view was enlightening. He'southward a proficient guy and all the same moves slowly to phone call it out. It doesn't bog downwards the story and realistically portrays how women adjust to their unfortunate normal.
While I have other books by the author, this is my first read. Now I empathize what all the fuss is well-nigh. The characters and situations are crafted intelligently with a careful lens through reality. I'd like these people if I met them, more because of their imperfections. The ii narrators, Shayna Tibodeaux and Deacon Lee, became these characters and represented them perfectly. I'm so glad I opted for the audio version! I enjoyed the characters, their relationships, the humor and the story they lived. Now, if I could just become more than of this author'due south titles on my reading schedule.

Every time I see a new volume past these authors I become a tingle within. I Just LOVE everything they write. Dating Y'all / Hating You lot is their newest standalone and I would describe it as witty, comical and a touch sassy.
The matter I like about Dating You / Antisocial You lot is how well it'south written. My reading was effortless and at times it felt like I wasn't fifty-fifty reading, I felt similar I was a part of the story and going along for the ride. I love this low muss and depression fuss kind of reading. I as well liked how well developed the story and the characters were. The writing wasn't forced and the chemistry between the ii main characters were off the charts.
Carter and Evie meet through mutual friends at a party. They are too both Hollywood agents. I really liked that they are agents. I felt similar it was a new and refreshing profession to read in a romance volume. I'1000 not sure how realistic the storyline is because I know naught nearly that world, but I felt like I learned a lot and it was just fun to read.
The thing with Carter and Evie is that if y'all share the same profession with your meaning other, in that location will exist contest one mode or another. Here's the matter. It'south not like after they met they are at each other's throats, at that place is a reason for the tension and I liked that. It didn't come out of the blue. Everything that happens in the book happens for a reason and it made the volume easy to read.

God it makes everything so darn more interesting. No CEO crap, no secretary, just 2 employees simply acting like 2 grown adults who like and hate each other. So definitely points to that.
The romance: Well it's more of a tedious burn down in the beginning simply then the tension increases, and it'due south almost got me hooting and rooting for them hard! Especially the dialogues, and the alone moments they rarely got, just made me swoon then hard.
The personalities, the characters themselves: Well Evie's personality is definitely something of a controlled, cool and calm working adult female even though she'due south been undermined a lot by her boss and colleagues. Just she's still chill, fun, and hardworking, a likeable personality. As for Carter, a witty, cocky, underestimated, but hardworking likewise guy. He's been definitely been dealt a lot of bad cards courtesy to his family unit and job. Only otherwise a joy to read about. They're both tons of fun to read nearly, relatable, and aspirational.
The catastrophe and other ends tied in: Well the ending is obviously a happy i, but with their bug and own differences worked out. The side characters are absolutely wonderful. Michael Christopher with Steph and their children are and so beautiful, sigh..would love a story on them. Daryl and Eric please, a story, I love them and so much...? Amelia is funny also, I hope she finds her soulmate, she deserves it.
So I loved EVERYTHING well-nigh this novel. And I crave more than Christina Lauren, sigh, so damn badly.

I loved all the characters in this volume. Evie and Carter were great main characters and I really enjoyed all of their friends and family, every bit well. I loved that the story was told in alternating 1st Person POV betwixt Evie and Carter. I idea each voice was well done and actually felt a connection to both of them. I thought they had dandy chemical science and I shipped them right away. This wasn't really the Detest-to-Dear story I was expecting. It was more Insta-Dearest-to-Hate-to-Love and I have to say it worked for me. While I loved Carter - Loved him - he did have several moments of great dickdom, so I was able to hate him when Evie did. But he was also so sweet and charming that I could easily fall back in love with him later.
As anyone who reads many of my reviews knows, I am non a fan of lots of graphic sexual content. I've only read one other book by this author duo earlier and based on that I knew going in that there was going to exist some scenes like that. I call up because I predictable it (and was enjoying all the other aspects of the volume), I found I didn't mind it equally much. At that place was really less than I thought there was going to exist.
The one thing (besides the graphic stuff) that kind of bothered me, though, is that I was expecting more behind-the-scenes data on Hollywood and working as an agent. Other than the mention of some actors and making big deals, in that location wasn't really a lot of details. I felt like this could take been set in whatsoever other type of manufacture and the story would have come out the aforementioned. There is one scandalous piece of work thing with Carter that happens towards the terminate of the book and I did not empathise why it was such a big deal. I felt like information technology was something that merely people in that business would understand and by that signal in the book I should've been able to empathize it, but I didn't. I call up my favorite thing when it came to the work atmosphere, though, is how Evie deals with sexism. Information technology'south a existent trouble that many of us confront and I thought for the most office Evie handled it with forcefulness and class.
Overall, I really loved Hating You / Dating Yous. I loved the characters and the romance, and the relatability of beingness 33 and backside on life.
